Call for Papers

Call for Papers has now closed. Thank you to all authors who have submitted a paper. Notifications of acceptance will be made from 6 August.

Abstract Information

Abstracts to be submitted under the following categories:

The Young Scientific Investigator Award, proudly sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Medical, recognises excellence in scientific investigation and its contribution to the advancement of bariatric surgery into the future. This year the winner of the Award will receive a $5000 travel grant to attend the IFSO 2011 Conference in Germany. The award is open to those in bariatric surgery or allied health that have less than five years in consultancy or practice. To apply simply submit your abstract by 2 July 2010.

Presentation Types

Submission will be accepted for the following presentation types:

Oral Papers

Oral papers report on original and significant work in research, development, applications or case studies in obesity surgery. Oral papers will be evaluated on the basis of their significance, originality, and clarity of writing. The time allowed for each presentation will be 12 minutes including question time (10 minutes presentation plus 2 minutes question time).

Submissions should be no longer than 250 words (excluding title and other contact details).

Poster presentations

Poster presentations must present reports of significant work in research, development, applications or case studies in obesity surgery. The display space allocated for posters will be 841mm x 1189mm (AO).

Submissions should be no longer than 250 words (excluding title and other contact details).

Video Presentations

Video presentations must demonstrate significant work in areas in research, development, applications or case studies in obesity surgery. The time allowed for each presentation will be 12 minutes including question time (10 minutes presentation plus 2 minutes question time). Accepted video presentations must be in DVD format.

Submissions should be no longer than 250 words (excluding title and other contact details).

Authors will be notified of acceptance / rejection on 6 August 2010
